Peeling with Pro Power Peel
Peeling of the skin
An important step toward healthy skin is using exfoliation. As we age, cell renewal slows tremendously. That is, the healthy new cells are not produced as smoothly.
This affects both the texture and color of your skin. Fine lines, wrinkles, acne, pigment appear… A chemical peel is one of the most effective ways to combat this skin change.
Chemical peeling
A chemical peel uses natural acids such as glycolic acid, lactic acid or salicylic acid to peel off the top layer of your skin (the dead cells). This is how fresh, young skin cells emerge. This treatment reduces wrinkles, blemishes, sun damage and even acne scars.
Every skin is different. So it is best to personalize a peel completely. The Pro Power Peel allows us to completely tailor this professional treatment to your skin. This allows us to best support the health of your skin.
For whom.
A chemical peel is good to counteract all skin conditions such as acne, pigmentation, wrinkles, sensitive skin… But also as “maintenance” this treatment is a good idea, for example to slow down skin aging. In short, it is suitable for everyone because it brings the following benefits.
- Fresher and younger looking skin
- Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
- Improving skin texture (refining pores)
- Reducing pigmentation
- Improvement of skin condition
- Works both preventively and problem-solving
For whom not?
A chemical peel is not suitable for the following situations.
- If you are pregnant
- To treat sunburned skin
- To treat skin damage such as psoriasis/eczema or a herpes infection (cold sores)
- If you use skin-thinning medication such as Accutane, Roaccutane or hydrocortisone
- For hormone treatments (only in consultation with physician)
- If you have already received Botox or another injection in the past week
- After any of the following cosmetic/medical procedures: Laser, IPL, microdermabrasion or if you have already had a chemical peel within the past 2 weeks
Before treatment
Using a Face Mapping Skin Analysis, we determine if your skin condition is suitable for the Pro Power Peel. It is important for your skin to have a healthy barrier. This means it should not be extremely dehydrated and should be free of eczema or psoriasis.
Healthy skin is less likely to struggle with any side effects of a chemical peel. Therefore, we recommend preparing or priming the skin with Dermalogica exfoliation treatments during previous facials and/or with home products. This makes the desired skin goals achieved faster.
Have you never had a facial with us before? If so, we first want to get to know and prepare your skin for the Pro Power Peel. Therefore, we recommend doing a Pro Skin 60 facial first in preparation for the Pro Power Peel treatment.
The peeling treatment
Our treatments are divided into 5 different levels. Before treatment, the level and concentration best suited to your needs and skin condition is determined. We can perform 2 different treatments with the Pro Power Peel.
Pro Power Peel 30
This is the best option if you are eager to learn about chemical peels. The treatment includes only the face (without neck and décolleté). The treatment does not go beyond level 3. The Pro Power Peel 30 treatment consists of: a double cleanse, the Pro Power Peel and a dermal layering (toner and moisturizer or SPF).
Pro Power Peel 60
This treatment allows us as skin experts to treat specific skin targets. The treatment goes up to level 5 if your skin condition allows it. The Pro Power Peel 60 consists of: a double cleanse, the Pro Power Peel, deep treatment (professional serums, a mask and a massage) and dermal layering (toner and moisturizer or SPF).
After the chemical peel
Day 1
After treatment, your skin may look a little redder and feel a little more sensitive. In most cases, there are no or few side effects. Possible side effects include dryness, prickling, itching, irritation, a tight and tight feeling and flaking.
Day 2
The second day after peeling, the pigment may be a little darker in color.
Day 3
On the third day after peeling, some peeling may occur around the nose and mouth, followed by the forehead, cheeks, jawline and neck. Be sure not to pull on the peels! Pulling on loose skin can cause permanent pigment damage.
We recommend following the following guidelines until the skin is no longer sensitive and flaking has stopped. This may take 3 to 10 days. Your skin expert will prepare a product plan for home use.
- Use an SPF daily and avoid prolonged sun exposure for 2 to 3 weeks.
- Avoid "high impact" sports or prolonged exposure to heat sources such as a sauna or steam room.
- Cleanse your skin with cool water and UltraCalming Cleanser and condition and moisturize with Barrier Repair.
- Increase your water intake for 2-3 days.
- Do not pull the sheets. Sufficient hydration can significantly reduce the appearance of flakes.
- Avoid exfoliants for at least 3 days (or longer if skin still shows signs of sensitivity).
- Hydrate throughout the day to maintain moisture levels to support the skin.
